SUNDAY SCHOOL

In Luke18:16 Jesus says “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” and in Proverbs 22:6, King Solomon says “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it”. In order to practice these teachings, we started our Sunday school in 1980. From the very limited number of classes and students at that time, it grew into a full-fledged Sunday school with classes starting from Primary to Std.-XI. Our Sunday School is affiliated to the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Sunday School Association (Affi. No: 581/15.12.99) and M.J.S.S.A. curriculum is followed in all these classes. The classes are being conducted on Fridays immediately after the Holy Qurbana under the leadership of the Vicar, Head Master and dedicated teachers.

The current strength of students are around 160. Passing out students of class X are awarded with J.S.S.L.C. certificate issued by M.J.S.S.A. Toppers of the annual Sunday school examination and the winners of the competitions are presented with certificates and prizes.

The Sunday School celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 2005 and the finale celebrations were conducted on 28th April 2006, in presence of the MJSSA President H.G. Youhanon Mor Meletheos and Vicars of sister Churches in Bahrain. A commemorative silver jubilee souvenir was also released on this occasion by H. G. Youhanon Mor Meletheos.

BALA SAMAJAM

To enrich the talents and to train extra-curricular activities, a forum is provided to the students under Balasamajam as part of Sunday school. A student Secretary and Joint Secretary are being elected each year to organize monthly meetings. Students are divided into two groups, namely “Bethel House” and “Shalem House” for healthy competition among them. These houses are headed by captains from each groups. An ever-rolling trophy in memory of Late Lamented H. G. Dr. Gheevarghese Mar Gregorios is awarded at the year end to the winning house, based on their performance in the monthly Balasamajam.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (V.B.S.)

The V. B. S. classes were conducting in the Church regularly since 1998. The medium of teaching is in English. All our Sunday School teachers as well as other Church members took part in VBS programs for teaching the students and also in helping as volunteers. Apart from our members, many from other denominations are also assisting us in teaching the VBS Songs and delivering devotional addresses. The children were participated in the VBS very enthusiastically, due to its special feature of activity learning.
